There have been a couple of queries about Junior Athletics.  We have a packed calendar this term so, rather than overloading our teachers and kids with another event, we have chosen to get behind the school Tryathlon. We also have a zoo trip, a forest trip, a school production, end of year liturgies and other celebrations so there's plenty of opportunity for families to get involved.  Thank you for your understanding.

We are all showing signs of the 'end-of-year-slump'.  Kids (and teachers) are quite tired and a little more sensitive than usual. There are a few things that will really help us to stay happy and healthy during the last few weeks...
1. Make sure your kids have a water bottle in class. Staying hydrated is really important with the changeable weather.
2. Check your bedtimes.  The recommended hours of sleep for 6-13 year olds is about 11 hours.
3. If your child is genuinely sick, or you suspect they might be, please keep them at home.  We are all a bit run down and are much more likely to catch bugs.  Teachers are flat out and less likely to see 'the signs' - our poor caretaker.
4. Sick of school (we all have those days). Telling your children to call home IF they feel sick isn't a great idea - it makes them focus on the escape rather the the fun activities going on around them.  This leads to some very dramatic scenes as they try to show us how very, very ill they are.  If some kids are to be believed we should have an ambulance on standby. Just let us know, if there is an issue, and we'll jolly them along. We really do look after them - we're not mean.
5. The end of year feels like a sprint to the finish, sometimes.  Make sure you give the kids a little downtime after school.  We are working flat out in class and we are all are tired - if you can, avoid dragging the kids around to run errands after school. Try shopping online with a cuppa at home - you could probably do with a bit of chill time, too.

Have a great week!
