Week 5 Term 2

Talofa Lava!
Samoan Language Week / Vaiaso o le Gagana  Sāmoa is being held from Sunday 27 May – Saturday 2 June 2018. The theme for this year is: “Alofa atu nei. Alofa mai taeao – Kindness given. Kindness gained”.

Car park Chaos
On Monday, a crane will be operating from the church car park. The builders are building the structure on the vacant section that will go over the deck area outside rooms 15 and 16. The structure will be lifted from the vacant section, over the carpark, swimming pool and into position. This means a large part of the carpark will be closed for most of Monday. If you normally park in the carpark, please find another place for drop off/pick up on Monday.

Problem Solving in Maths

we had a tricky problem to solve in maths. We were given 8 containers and a set of clues. Using the clues the children had to order the containers. It certainly got them thinking! Well done guys your brains were in over drive!

Wacky hair designs

Last week we wrote some descriptions on how we would like our hair to look. Then we drew a picture of our wacky hair to place on our heads. Everyone had fun, creating some amazing styles. Our main objective was to write some wow words and make our writing more interesting.

I can’t wait to publish our stories!

Big thanks to our wonderful Parents

A huge thanks this week to Lorraine Thomson and Bruce Johnson and Nana Jeanette for offering up their spare time-they have been a great help this week in Room 6.  We love having people in to help so let me know if you are available to come in and we always have jobs that need doing.

Also thanks to Kayte Colledge for bringing in the 12 kittens.  The class loved holding and playing with them.  If you have any pets that you would like to bring in please let me know-we love having animal visits.

Thinking and learning

Today we were busy with lots of thinking and learning. Some were buying things at the vets and giving change in 10's.  Some people were designing their zoo and making enclosures.  Lots of children were researching animals finding out what they eat, what their habitats are like etc.
