Learning through play

Today we had an awesome time with our play based learning. Some of us started the games and some children created a hook, others started a ship. It was a super session where everyone was busy and most importantly having fun!

Deacon Mike visit

Yesterday we had the pleasure of seeing Deacon Mike. He has been unwell and is looking so much better! Deacon Mike told us about today’s feast day ‘Mary Queen of Heaven’. We can’t wait to see Deacon Mike and listen to his wonderful stories.

Prayers
A number of our St Marys whanau, past and present, are having a tough time at the moment. I am sure they will appreciate your prayers.  Make sure you take an extra moment or three with your friends and family - they are so precious.

St Mary's Superheroes
We are so lucky to have such a beautiful and supportive community.  We are even luckier to have a group of amazing parents who organise gala days, raffles and they do a million other unsung jobs around the school and for our families.  They make such a world of difference to our school and our community. If you are interested in becoming a St Mary's Superhero the PTA are holding their AGM 15th August, 7pm in the staff room.  I know that they would very much appreciate a few extra hands - every contribution is very much appreciated. Go along for a look, meet a few people, have a few laughs... they even provide nibbles!

Kapa Haka
Koro Tini is overseas this week, but he is hoping to send his sister (Manu) to practise poi with the girls. TBC

Strike Day - Thanks for your support and understanding.

Making labels

we had lots of plants delivered for our vegetable gardens. They needed to be planted quickly in case the weather turned bad. The Enviro team plus a few other Senior children helped plant them. Room 6 did an amazing job of making labels to go with our plants. They drew pictures, cut them out. Placed holes in them and put string on to go around rocks. Great idea Alana! What an industrious bunch you are Room 6.

Steam Extravaganza

Manuka Team had the opportunity to join in with the Steam Extravaganza. Craig came in with some Year 5/6 students to teach us about Binary Code.
We made a bracelet using our initials. It was a little challenging but everyone succeeded and worked hard to complete their bracelet.

GO4IT

We had another excellent lesson from Daniel and played some super games with the GO4it program.

Learning about Saints

This week we have be learning about Saints. We made a list of our favourite saints. Jessie likes painting so she chose St. Luke. St Francis was Hannah’s favourite. Amelia chose St. Eligius because they are the Patron Saint of horses.
Today we worked in groups to find as many facts as we could about different saints. We will be working on these for a few days! Try and pop in next week to see our finished work. They will look amazing!
